We, Barbara and Richard Bradburn bought Silsden Boats in 1995 as a retirement project, after Richard took early retirement from the Local Architects department on the Wirral. Barbara retired as a secretary to the Chairman of a local Health Authority and they moved to Silsden. We had both been boating for many years since the early 1960′s.
We have built the business up over the years having started with 5 sponsored boats, and now have 22 boats, some of them still sponsored. We were joined by our daughter Jenny as Financial Director in 2001.
All of the boats are named after family members with the odd exception, daughters, grandchildren, Barbara’s parents. The Drum logo originated from Bob’s (Barbara’s father) boat which he had many years ago which was called Drum Beat.
We introduced widebeam boats to the fleet in 2000 and they have proved very popular, there are now 5 for hire for short break or weekly hire, with more room in the lounge area and 2 en-suit bedrooms.
We are a family run business and are helped by a small very friendly and knowledgeable crew of staff.
There are no extra charges added on here at Silsden Boats – The price you see is the price you pay.
